Don't get Scammed
Beware of False Renewals
Did you receive a notice like this? Don't pay it! At BizTopia Partners our goal is to help small businesses grow. As an independent business owner, you have a lot to manage and even more so today with digital content. That's why we’re here.
Within the last year, we have had a variety of customers receive these types of website renewal notices in the mail. Although it looks like a legitimate invoice, it's not, it's a scam. Sadly these are bad people just trying to take your hard earned money. Maybe you had a friend, family member, or employee who set up your URL & website and you’re not sure where your URL is registered, so it can be confusing when you receive notices like this.
Here are just some of the details (including username and password for each) that you need to make sure you have control of your online presence:
- Where URL is registered
- Where your website is hosted
- Where your email is hosted
That’s not all. You want to make sure you are an administrator of your social media presence as well. Did you know your Facebook & Instagram pages can be linked and run through Facebook Business Suite? There can be issues when trying to link accounts, fortunately we’ve been able to overcome those for multiple customers. The social media management platforms are ever changing. We stay on top of those changes and are happy to manage accounts for you or guide you how to do so yourself. Here are a few social media management tips:
- Make sure you are an admin of your Facebook business page
- Connect your Facebook & Instagram accounts to manage both via Business Suite
- Claim your Google My Business Listing
In our technology driven world, managing your digital content is an integral part of the success of your business. It’s important you have control of your brand. We encourage all customers to maintain a spreadsheet of accounts with usernames and passwords to ensure you always have access to manage your digital presence, as it’s just as much a part of your reputation as your Brick & Mortar location.
